I love many different genres from HK and Asia but my favourite genres are definitely
heroic bloodshed and the
dark & nasty horror movies of the 1980s. Here's a couple of really cool VHS covers from some of these
entertaining films from the
dark & naste horror film genre.

aka
FLESH AND BLOODY TERROR
BLACK MAGIC on German VHS

Love all these, but THE BEASTS is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteIs the VHS version the same cut as the DVD and VCD?
There is something so dirty and deranged about THE BEASTS.
The extremely ugly actor should have gone on to bigger, uglier things.
No, the new(ish) dvd is cut. I haven't compared them myself but Andras (aka Deliria) mentioned it on Asian Dvd Guide. The Dutch and old UK vhs are uncut (when I say uncut I'm talking about the original uncut version of the film. Not the "Flesh and Bloody Terror" version that has XXX inserts).
ReplyDeleteYesterday on Dvdmaniacs someone living in China talked about the different versions and the area in HK where THE BEASTS take place:

Rare HK-trailer for THE BEASTS:

The DVD has a scratched up but decent print,no menu, not even chapter stops - it's tailor made for tapeheads. It is probably the closest of how this movie might have been looked like after a week of midnight showing.
Hey, thanks for that link, Andras. I'll post the trailer right away!!
