went down to the old avrasya (eurasıa) markets and asked for some cuneyt arkın films agaın. this time i got lucky and got 7 cuneyt arkin films on dvdrom for about a 1.50 aud each. these were two cemil films, adsiz cengaver, tokatcilar and two others with the word horosan in their titles plus another one i can,t remember the name of. the dude at this bootleg dvd stall was way cooler than the creep who showed me the porno highlights last time . hahaha
i don,t have a computer handy to watch these films to see if they are any good quality wise but i,ll take the risk and get even more next time round. the bootlegger showed me about a 120 or so arkın titles that he has on file together with a rare (?) documentary apparently from cuneyt,s own archıves !!!
Hey joe! So cool you're having a good time in downtown Istanbul!! When you say you've bought them on dvdrom, what does that actually mean? Are they film (from vcd/vhs/whatever) converted to a computer file on a dvd-r or what? But in any case it sounds exciting. Good luck on finding more!
And exciting about that docu. I just hope it's not the MM docu they've put on a boot, LOL. Bill mentioned someone in Turkey tried to sell him the rights to a "rare" docu on Turkish film so he could put it out on DVD and it turned out it was simply the MM docu that the fuckers were trying to sell him one a boot, hahaah.
Btw, joe... I spoke to our friend "xanthor fek" over on FB and I mentioned you're in Istanbul and he said you should get together! He said he was gonna write to you on FB so if you haven't checked your PMs do so! It would be cool if you could meet.
hi there jack, i wasn,t in istanbul when xanthor wrote to me. but i did go there for two days with my wife and daughter over the weekends. we were ın a rush to see all the sıghts ın a short space of time i didn,t have time to meet or see anyone. İ did manage to fınd some stuff there too and even went to that erol tas water pipe and coffee shop.i picked up some audio cassettes, cds and tarkan comic books while i was there.there were loads of asıan,scandanavian, german and english tourists there even though its the winter off season.
i,m staying in the north east of the country because of a change of plans. had to fly ınto istanbul because its about 900 kms away. there were plenty of shops there sellıng dvds and vcds but i didn,t see anythıng rare except for some erotıc lobby cards and a poster for the film aybice wolf gırl on the wall of second hand store.you need to stay there for weeks to find stuff. there are too many shops ın back alleys, sıde streets and arcades.
QUESTİON: When you say you've bought them on dvdrom, what does that actually mean? Are they film (from vcd/vhs/whatever) converted to a computer file on a dvd-r or what? ANSWER : they,re off vhs tapes and tv broadcasts and are 700mg to 1 gb for each film. the seller transfers them off his computer to a dvdr as a data dısc that you can,t watch on a dvd player unless you convert them to play on a dvd player ınstead of only on a computer.
