Fred Adelman's collection for sale

I have often linked to Fred Adelman's web-zine, Critical Condition for film reviews about all kinds of exploitation reviews and there's been a link on this blog to CritCon for the longest time (on the bar to the right). Fred was a member of Dvdmanicas for many years and he is also a member at Cinehound (although he doesn't post) and his knowledge about exploitation films is huge (for quite a while he's written a proper review EVERY day!). Critical Condition began as a print zine in 1982 and he's been running it ever since. You can find it here.

The web edition is HUUGE! Also, Fred has tons and tons of tapes and he's been cutting out ad mats from newspapers from 1970-94 and he's now going to sell both the original collection and cd-r's with scans of them all. Read about the ad mat sale here.

And last but certainly not least, Fred is now going to sell his VHS collection and there are already some tapes up for sale!!
Go here.

Mess with beautiful Byzantine women and they'll give ya HELL!!!

MS .45 available again on uncut DVD

In 2008 Abel Ferrera's nasty (and great)MS.45 (aka Angel of Vengeance) from 1981 came out on a French DVD, a release that for the first time ever (and so far only time) was fully uncut. That DVD is now OOP but I've just noticed that the label has now re-released it (with a slightly different cover). The re-release came out in March of this year so there ought to be plenty left for y'all. If you wanna search for it on eStores the French title is L'ange de la vengeance.

Both the new disc and the old one are available from Amazon France but unless you're at war with your money I'd suggest you get the new one as it retails for a mere 7 Euros. The old one is around €30!

NB: And yes the DVD carries the English audio track.

Re-release

Naked Vengeance - trailer

This week's competition: List as many bad guys from the nasty Filipino revenge movie NAKED VENGEANCE who's also a follower of this blog? LOL.

Don Gordon Bell posted this about being in the film over on my Filipino blog in January:
I was one of the five rapists, with Nick Nicholson. Think my name was Arnie and Nick was Sparky. We had quite a challenge doing the rape scene...it was quite intense yet professional. Deborah Tranelli was a trooper and told me to really 'go down' close when I was, uh, well, going down on her just before her 'parents' arrive home. Most of the women on the set were upset at us for several days. (Sheesh, it's only acting)
Funniest thing was standing around in a 'jock-strap' that I was wearing, my buns hanging out. One of the STILL photographers caught me and gave me a copy but I lost that one.

I died a horrible death, being wounded by the revengeful "Carla" and knocked down into an Ice Crusher at the Ice House where my character Arnie worked. I had to improvise by duck taping a skateboard to my stomach and that way I could be pushed down the ramp with two huge blocks of ice behind me. Took three takes, first one the stuntmen pushed me to hard and cameras couldn't pan fast enough. 2nd take went great, but I got smashed with the ice inside the box. 3rd take, was the best, with the camera on short tripod the cameraman had to be pulled out of the way as I came screaming straight into the shot.

The last one I realized that I might hit so I grabbed the side of the box so I would not hit the camera and operator. The two blocks of ice knocked me upwards, slammed my head on the top, but gave them time to roll away. Both blocks of ice came to rest on top of me.

Director Cirio called out, in his usual calm voice, "Hey babe, you okay?" I was pinned against the back, unable to move the blocks off and no one was helping me. "NO, Direct! I am not okay...get me outta here." Everyone broke out laughing as Cirio called to "That's a Wrap!" By the time I got out, most had left the set. I went back to the hotel, with the skateboard still ducktaped to me, just for fun. AH, those were the days, what a way to make a living.

NB: In the first version of this post I kept calling the film Naked Revenge, haha.

Evil NON FILM RELATED ads: O how I despise thee!

My gawd, how I truly hate and loathe ads on film blogs and web sites!!!

Hate, hate, despise, despise, and loathe to the point of (almost) foaming at the mouth in rabid anger!!! .\_/.

No, I'm not talking about ads that a blog author or web host puts there in order for his readers to be able to locate some of the rare films he just reviewed. No, I'm talking about the motherfucken weight loss ads, the car ads, the bloody mobile phone ads, the what-have-you ads, and not least the shit-for-brains ring-tone ads!!! Have a look at the front of this otherwise pretty cool horror film site BRUTAL AS HELL: The top front logo picture is awesome and I would truly love it if it weren't for the honest to god awful ads (which are probably different depending on your own location as mine has a Danish language camera ad on it).

For fuck's sake! I actually wrote to the guy who owns the site and said something to the effect of Get rid of those ads or I'll kill you and your family and your family's friends and their neighbours - and burn your house down too ... but you know how that goes, so yes the ads are gonna stay. I just don't get it. @_@

By the way, Brutal As Hell is an offspring of the old JOE HORROR horror review site (+ forum) which later became WILDSIDE CINEMA, and then changed its name to HUMAN PORK CHOPS, and now has returned to using WILDSIDE CINEMA site (+ forum). At least Wildside Cinema doesn't have stupid ads so that's great (and the fact that they've got a link to this here blog makes them the better site anyway, haha).

Bill Barounis of Onar Films in hospital

Unfortunately, I received bad news yesterday from Miltos in Athens, Greece regarding our friend Bill Barounis of Onar Films.

Bill was hospitalised over a week ago for a condition I don't have much info about but according to Miltos it's stress related and serious. However, Miltos did actually speak to Bill over the phone yesterday and Bill said he would have to stay in hospital for a few more days but that he is all right. I don't wish to sound pessimistic but as I'm sure you know lots of people minimise their bad situation when they speak to someone else in order not to make them worry. I hope he's right, of course.

In contradiction to Miltos who is also located in Athens, I live far from Greece (at the other end of Europe) but even so it's no secret Bill burns his candle at both ends with his hectic life that includes a fulltime job, tons of work with Onar (and if anybody thinks it's "just" a cheap hobby they'd be in for a major surprise. Buying film rights and putting out DVDs is a very costly and time consuming affair), and not least Bill has a family to take care of.

So if you get to read this, Bill, it goes without saying thateveryone at Cinehound, Miltos, and myself, are crossing our fingers hoping you're gonna get well soon and have a complete recovery.

The photo is one of the rare ones of Bill that I've seen; It's from last year and Bill is standing outside an old closed down cinema on the isle of Crete. Here's what he said about it on Cinehound in August of last year:

Hey, I still can't forget my recent vacation on the MAGICAL island of Crete for dozens of reasons.
One of them is an unexpected discovery.

While passing from a mountain remote little village I discovered an abandoned CINEMA! I stopped there and wanted to cry.

I immediately asked around and managed to find the owner!

It was an old widow woman, now running a local small coffee house for old people.

I even took a small "interview" from her.
The village has 1000 (one thousand) inhabitants.
They opened the Cinema in 1970 and closed it down in 1987.
It had 250 seats and in some cases, when they screened some greek commercial film there were long queues and people were even standing in the theater!

Now, she uses it as a storehouse.

She looked so enthusiastic about it and I know she thought I was crazy for looking so excited about this.

Next time I go there I'll take pictures from the inside etc etc.

Ahm, Bruno Mattei flick not so "unreleased" after all!

Damn, too quick again (that's what SHE said!). The Bruno Mattei film BODY AND SOUL which I described as being unreleased in my post from yesterday turns out to be not so "unreleased" after all, LOL. David Z (of the excellent Tomb It May Concern blog, author of the Filipino/Italo war/action movie book "Tough to Kill", and I believe alround Albert Pyun fan) sent me info (check the comments section to yesterday's post) on this Japanese DVD version from 2003. It's out on the King Records label and retitled DIRTYDOLL.
Cheers Dave.
