Even Byzantine women know the true meaning of luuuve when it comes to Cüneyt Arkin

  1. A cuneyt arkin double for the next MM release would be great.Perhaps this movie with adsiz cengaver (nameless knight) ???
btw those are great screen shots from the movie !!

  2. Ahh, that would be awesome. Although only a drop in the ocean. How many films has he done, 400 or something. I was flicking thru the "Fantastik Türk Sinemasi" book and the amount of stuff I have never seen is overwhelming!

Yes, those screen shots are pretty good. I'm not familiar with the film you mention.

  3. I think he C.Arkin has made about 350-400 movies, depending on what you read.I read somewhere that at the height of his career he was making a movie every two weeks!!!
Yes, two movies would be the tip of the iceberg for arkin movies.
I haven't seen the nameless warrior or knight (korkusuz cengaver) but i think it has some special fx that were created in england. It's like a battal gazi type of a movie mixed with an arabian nights type of fantasy adventure with some king arthur type elements thrown into the mix.Don't know if that's an accurate desription of the movie but I just found out it's on you tube.

  4. Xanthor, I tried again a couple of days ago and got to view the last clip.the video where he comes off stage singing and playing his guitar. This sounded more pop than the guitar instro. ie uygur erol buyukburc or maybe cliff richard but it was still interesting.i'll try that other clip you put up.

  5. Xanthor, use this thread instead the other one's too long.

  6. thanks xanthor just downloaded the clip from that last link you posted.Very enjoyable, very nice guitar playing too.Maybe the tune is called "pervane" it's mentioned quite a few times in the song !!!

  15. 'have you heard about a turkish psychedelic comp coming out next month on cd and vinyl called Turkish Freakout?'
never heard of it before.interesting to see if its just another retread or really does have some of the previously unreissued stuff...

re: Cuneyt Arkin: when I visited here 20 years ago, though people liked his old films, he was scoffed at cause he had this tv talk show and his politics were nationalistic.

'I've got a danish '60s beat/garage compilation called copenhagen beat'
I use to have this same comp. I liked it though I didn't feel it was as strong as what I'd heard from other scandinavian countries at the time. but some really nice danish bands in the '70s: burnin' red ivanhoe, midnight sun, savage rose (who even played Istanbul a few times), secret oyster, but I could go on and on...

  17. XANTHOR, that song does sound like an erkut tackin song 'doga ve insan' (nature & man). Also the melody slightly resembles a theme to a japanese cartoon, can't remember which one.I'm having problems with the clips. Some say you cannot acess this link and others don't play but remain on standby forever !!
    I'll try again later.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cuneyt arkin was also big in Iran in the 1970s,where he was more well known by his real name 'Fahrettin'.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ''m having problems with the clips. Some say you cannot acess this link and others don't play but remain on standby forever !!'
I get the remain on standby forever, but not the cannot access. sometimes the internet is so bewilderingly capricious.one clip I got to work once and then just standby.just a few months ago, these clips were unknown to internet-- I searched to no avail. I hope my friend goes to Urumci in Oct to find this stuff...

'Cuneyt arkin was also big in Iran in the 1970s,where he was more well known by his real name 'Fahrettin'.

I've seen a lot of lobby cards for his films that I thought were in arabic but maybe most (all?) were actually in farsi.
do u know of Cihangir Gefari, an Iranian actor who starred in many turkish B films of '70s.

    ReplyDelete
  20. yep,I've heard about cihangir gefari.he did quite a few turkish flicks in the late 60s & early 70s.Maybe this was a ploy to sell the films more easily to a persian market. You didn't have to know turkish to be in a yesilcam movie,I think nearly all of those were filmed silent and then voice actors would dub the dialogue in later. There many other foreign actors in turkish movies for instance Annie Ball from Austria and Virginia Bruce from hollywood and many other films with Italian actors. Then three's the guy who played the genie in Adsiz Cengaver I think he was British. Also Bolo in ninja killer etc etc.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Xanthor,When do expect that erkin koray album you mentioned earlier to come out on subliminal frequencies. What period in his career will the album cover,1967-1983 ????

    ReplyDelete
  22. 'When do expect that erkin koray album to come out on SF.What period will the album cover,1967-1983 ????'

I just sent yr query along to my friend (who is putting the comp together).

'You didn't have to know turkish to be in a yesilcam movie,I think nearly all of those were filmed silent and then voice actors would dub the dialogue in later.'

it was a very small group of voice actors who dubbed in almost all of the voices in turkish films for yrs. about 15 yrs ago, a fanzine here interviewed these guys.

'Virginia Bruce from hollywood and many other films with Italian actors.'

I didn't know about Bruce or some of the others, though I did know about the italians. annie ball also starred in a number of greek films.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Virginia Bruce lived in istanbul for a while in the 1950s with her then husband ali ipar who produced the first colour film in turkey in 1953 called Salgin aka epidemic istanbul, starring virginia.According to what I've read this film was shown on tv but is now lost.Do you have the poster for this movie in that 5555 book ??Ipar also directed the first turkish colour documentary and in the US wrote the screenplay for a POW WW2 flick I can't recall the name of.Also eva bender from sweden who was also married to a turkish film producer or director.Did i mention Bolo leung in ninja killer ? there's more but i can't recall them all now ?
Oh,another is Christine Haydar, have you heard of her ??

    ReplyDelete
  24. 'Salgin aka epidemic istanbul, starring virginia.'
according to IMDB it got a US release in '56 under title ISTANBUL.

'Do you have the poster for this movie in that 5555 book ??'
yes. but it is very small.

'Ipar also wrote the screenplay for Curse of a Teenage Nazi...'
which is available on american DVD

'eva bender from sweden was also married to a turkish film producer or director.'
it seems she only made films in turkey...

Did i mention Bolo leung in ninja killer ?'
    is this any good?

'Oh,another is Christine Haydar, have you heard of her ??'
    no.
there is also a turk actress who made a few US films but died young (don't remember her name).

    US director Jon Keeyes made 2 BAD films in 2007 with substantial turkish casts: Living & Dying;
    Fall Down Dead.

  27. The ninja killer is not the best karate or kung fu movie but it's still worth having. It usually gets a low rating on imdb and other review sites but they also gave the Green Slime 3 out of 5,which in my opinion rates at least an 8/10.As for ninja killer or karate fighters in istanbul I'd give a 6.5 out of ten. There's a hilarious scene where arkin splits his pants while performing a high flying kung fu kick. You'd think they'd do another take but they left the blooper in the actual released movie.lol.
ps I got the ninja killer dvd for $3usd .

    ReplyDelete
  28. NINJA KILLER is also aka "Kung Fu On The Bosporus" and the title of the Turkish edit is "Karateciler Istandbul'da". I can't even remember if Bolo is in the Turkish edit as a lot of the Chinese stuff isn't in it. The Turkish version and the international version are almost two different movies. As I've mentioned somewhere here before I have the international version in its English dub and the Turkish version dubbed into German. Both are fun versions but you're right it's not the best kung fu film ever. But then again, most cheap genre films from Turkey aren't the "best" by anybody's standards BUT they ARE a lot of fun to watch! xD!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Btw, I also have another Turkish kung fu/revenge movie called KARATE GIRL (aka GOLDEN GIRL aka KARATECI KIZ) that stars Filiz Akin. I have both the English dubbed version and the Turkish tape (well, Greek really but it's in Turkish). Cover scans for both films here:

I've seen parts of these kung fu films but my VHSs got lost in a move.I've still never seen GREEN SLIME, damn...

'But then again, most cheap genre films from Turkey aren't the "best" by anybody's standards BUT they ARE a lot of fun to watch!'

definitely! wait til you see the other turkish tarzan film-- tarzan the fearless. I LOVE it.
tarzan istanbul'da never did much for me.
    I've never seen Karate Girl.

  34. JACK J,yes i agree most of the cult/genre turkish films aren't all that well made films because of limited budgets, poor resources and quick shooting schedules.Having said that they are fun to watch and often are partially well made with many flaws and when you grow use to watching them you can't stop.In my opinion the better quality films are from mainly the b/w era of the 1950s and 1960s,films by directors such as omer lutfi akad, atif yilmaz, metin erksan, osman f sedan and others.
I don't have any of those films you mentioned at all ie karate girl and those klaus kinksi or the supermen and the wild girl one

  42. 'great turkish girl group photo, are they called kizlar as written on their drum kit and did they record anything??'

I think kizlar orkestrasi is the name and as far as I know they never recorded (they kinda look like the turkish shaggs (great '60s new england band))...lots of bands never recorded or never got released: Oxygen was written about frequently in HEY, but no records.
TANK (a supergroup with members from mogollar&kaygizizlar) recorded one single that was rejected by the record company-- they dumped the demo on the street when they left!

sevmek zamani is excellent art film.

'Virginia bruce i'm going to buy some of her movies and i look into that ali ipar written flick too.'

cool. let me know how they are.

the shop I've mentioned before had a 3cd collection of Alpay singles. there was enough material for maybe an ok single volume. the vast majority of his releases are not really what we're into; but having said that he did have some choice anadolu rock.

    ReplyDelete
  45. XANTHOR,I think it's the same oxygen group?? I'll get back to you later when I find the info, not sure if they are credited on the alpay 45 but I think they're some sort of studio super group like the band you mentioned,Tank. They're either called oksijinler,or oksijin orkestrasi or something similar.I know alpay has got a lot of crooner ballads but an alpay rock lp would be great. For example both sides of the single he did with 3 hurel, yekte, daglar engel oldu, ben armudu disledim, seni dileniyorum, kalenin bayir duzu, can karagozlum etc

  61. jay,you found the oxygen single with alpay.looks as though you've just about listed the songs for an alpay best of collection.i just watched the ozturk abidik twist video, this is an earlier version.there's a better more wilder version at the start of a turkan soray movie that he's in.In this clip he has a band backing him up.Again I couldn't watch those ekmetjan clips on nartube !!!

  62. 'you've just about listed the songs for an alpay best of collection.'
    that's what I was thinking...

'there's a better more wilder version at the start of a turkan soray movie that he's in.In this clip he has a band backing him up.'
    I'll try to find it.

'I couldn't watch those ekmetjan clips on nartube !!!'
    keep trying; they're worth it...

  63. jay,i would've included ask boyledir with the 3Hurel as well.On yekte it's the yonca orkestrasi led by zafer dilek. This backing track is on the TRT ara muzik 2 as well as on a B-music(finders keepers comp) credited to zafer dilek.i'll watch those other clips you mentioned later.

couldn't find it on youtube but I'm sure it deserves to be on it.

'This backing track is on the TRT ara muzik 2'
    I have this album

'as well as on a B-music(finders keepers comp) credited to zafer dilek.'
well, I won't be purchasing any finders keepers.

  65. I read somewhere on the internet that the people from finders keepers were regularly in istanbul trying to buy out or get their hands on every single turkish, psych, beat, pop, etc records so that they can have a monopoly on all turkish reissues. Is this true ?? There turkish reissue output has diminished sinced that ersen best of from early 2008,maybe it has to do with the royalties controversy with the selda lp ??

  66. 'I read somewhere on the internet that finders keepers were regularly in istanbul trying to get their hands on every turkish, psych, beat, pop,etc record so that they can have a monopoly on all turkish reissues. Is this true ??'

I haven't heard this and don't know if its true but I wouldn't put it past those slimeballs...
the thing is that most of the shops that were selling this stuff are gone & the few remaining shops seem to know the true value of the records.

'There turkish reissue output has diminished.. maybe it has to do with the royalties controversy with the selda lp ??'
    what controversy? everyone seems to believe andy votel's lies and bullshit and that of his colleagues;
people don't realize they stole the Selda songs.

as for Ersen,I interviewed him 4 yrs ago and asked if he wanted to have a collection released on a small label in the US. He was delighted and didn't care that the money would be small (he did very well in real estate in the '80s). then when my friend was talking to him about what songs to put on the CD, he said he wanted $20,000. I have no idea if finders keepers paid him. my friend hopes they didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I get ya,everyone believes the knobs from finders keepers then, typical.Ersen also had that 'unofficial' cd reissue of his first lp dunden bugune on underground masters.Shadoks was also planning to do a double lp on ersen and then another on baris manco.I guess both those deals fell through.haha ??

    ReplyDelete
  68. JAY,yes,I finally got to watch about five of those clips.I think his name is Ahmet Can Marhum in turkish. The guitar playing is exceptional, I understood parts of what he was singing in a couple of the songs others were hard to make out but he's definitely singing in a turkic dialect.

    ReplyDelete
  69. 'Shadoks was also planning to do a double lp on ersen and then another on baris manco.I guess both those deals fell through.haha ??'
the only difference between shodaks + FK is that the former started stealing much earlier.

'I finally got to watch about five of those clips...The guitar playing is exceptional'
Glad you got to 'em. I'm in touch with an ethnomusicologistspecialist in uighur music. she didn't know who I was talking about so I emailed her the links yesterday for her to watch.

  70. Another two albums that were announced but never released were :-
Turkish delights volume 2 (subtitled) The swinging side of the bosphorus

Anatolian Invasion finders keepers(not them again) turkish psych comp

also guerssen records were going to release the first cem karaca (with a 2 page leaflet) lp but turkuola from germany released it first.
I'm trying to collect all turkish psych reissues,no matter if they're good or bad.

  71. '2 albums announced but never released were:Turkish Delights vol2;
Anatolian Invasion finders keepers turkish psych comp.'
never heard of either; any idea what was to be on them?

'also guerssen records were going to release the first cem karaca (with a 2 page leaflet) lp but turkuola from germany released it first.'
is turkola real or bootleg label? I have a CDr of one release that sucked-- looked like bootleg to me.

just read on facebook that douchbag harlage hasn't released the 1st MF(without the O) cause MF have sat on his contract for 3 years. good for them.

'I'm trying to collect all turkish psych reissues,no matter if they're good or bad.'
do you have a list? I wonder if you have stuff I've never heard about. I found out about BM-Live in Tarsus when a friend visited and complained that he'd lent the tape to a friend and next thing he knew, the guy had bootlegged it. I know a number of things are out there cause well-meaning people lent tapes to people that they thought were trustworthy... If you heard what GA had suggested to me be HavaN v2 (I've got the CDr), you'd gag...

    ReplyDelete
  72. anatolian invasion I think wasn't released (i'm guessing) because the stuff is already out on their labels and on other releases.I suspect(guessing again) they've already released it as mix compilation with unlisted hidden tracks called oyun havasi vol 1 and other trax on those b-music cds, limited eps and on other related releases. The comp(oyun havasi)is being presented as a persian psych (which it's not) or a mid-east beats one but really it's the turkish trax along with the one omar khorshid instro that make up the bulk of the good stuff on this cd.The rest of the stuff is regular world music trax which have nothing to do with psych or rock.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'll get back to you with the list of trax on those comps.

    ReplyDelete
  74. 'anatolian invasion; oyun havasiis being presented as persian psych, which it's not.'
this info is pretty depressing. the omar khorshid track is undoubetdly booted cause sublime frequncies has legal permission for his stuff.
    looking forward to your list.

  75. "What's with the picture of the guy with the paper bag mask? He looks like the unknown comic from the gong show ??"

Well, the paper bag mask guy is... ME. Hahaha. When I opened this blog a few yrs back I wanted to use a photo of myself but at the same time I was wary of having my mug plastered all over the web. So I went for the "slasher film approach": Wear a paper bag over your head! LMAO.

I'm using the same photo on message boards and at some stage (quite a while back) there was this messed up guy who got offended over something I said and he kept going: "take that bag off, I'm not talking to someone in a paper bag!" - and I'm thinking: "Dude, it's a fucken PHOTO of me in a paper bag, it's not like I'm actually wearing it!!!" Hahaha. Sometimes you "run" into some weirdos in Cyberspace that's for sure.

  77. Jay,that comp with the khorshid track is from about two years ago.I just found out about it this year and ordered it from my local record store. There are 4 tracks on it with about 6 or 7 tunes joined together to make up a single track. No credits,no info, you have to figure out the songs for yourself.A Funny way of releasing a compilation??

  78. 'comp with the khorshid track (has) 4 tracks on it with about 6 or 7 tunes joined together to make up a single track. No credits,no info, you have to figure out the songs for yourself.A Funny way of releasing a compilation??'

only if they've booted all the songs.

if this is the oyun havasi, I just listened to samples and its ok, but nothing special. I was making better mixtapes 30 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  79. the songs i figured out on Oyun havasi are :-

    alpay- daglar engel oldu
    kamuran akkor- yaylalar
    kamuran akkor- ikimiz bir fidaniz
    agri dag efsanesi-deli gonul
    arif sag-oyun havasi
    ozdemir erdogan-varmisin
    baris manco-daglar daglar version 2
    ersen-gunese don cicegim
    sakir oner-deli deli
    alpay- yekte
    gulden karabocek song ?
also i think there's an erkin koray track too and maybe a couple of others. It's a difficult cd to listen to but the songs are full versions and not samples. It's a b-music(finders keepers) cd than your probably right no licensing involved.

    ReplyDelete
  80. other comps related to finders keepers with turkish songs on them are :-

prog is not a dirty word-with 2 turkish tunes which are lambaya puf de-baris manco & a 3 hurel song off their 2nd lp.

Bearded ladies-various artists with 1 selda track gesi baglar

cherrystone rocks compilation with mogollar's sunset in the golden horn lp version

b-music compilation vol 1-this includes yekte by yonca orkestrasi/zafer dilek which is the backing track for alpay's version sans vocals.

b-music comp volume 2-two turkish songs sevil ve ayla(backed by kurtulan ekspres &manco)-bebek and ozdemir erdogan- karaoglan almanyada

    there's a 7 inch vinyl ep compilation with 1 selda track,nem kaldi

there's another ep comp with one ersen/mogollar song 'ternek'.

below the list for turkish delights vol 2, it's from memory, lost the list when my computer crashed, it's about half of the songs that were going to be on that album :-
    1 korkut koray-arabaci
2.alpay-either ah berelim or daglar engel oldu
    3.arif sag-osman pehlivan
    4.arif sag-su samsunun evleri(?)
    5.husnu ozkartal orkestrasi-su derenin sulari
    6.kardaslar-deniz ustu kopurur

  83. 'do you have a list of what was proposed for h.narghile vol 2 ?'
sorry this took so long. I listened to it for the 1st time in 9 years; track listing is long gone & I finally got girlfriend to help last nite ('94-'03 I listened to anadolu rock A LOT but have cut down: 9 yrs
ago I could've just listened and known the titles. HN2tracks:
    siluetler-kasik havasi
    mogollar-garip gunlum
    mavi isiklar-ain't that so
    bunalim-
    tarsus amerikan kolej-I don't care
    cem karaca-kara uzum
    kadikoy ticaret lisesi-lsd
    kardaslar-cokertme
    Baris manco-olum allehin emri
    Erkin Koray-mechul 1&2
    edip akbayram-daglar dagladi beni
    erkut tackin-gitmek bana dustu
that's half of the total of 22 songs.GF had some more songtitles but I can't read her writing. she said almost everything was a turku. most of what I didn't identify were vaguely mogolarish or kardaslar. he might have used the flip of the melih faruk serdae saygun 45. also maybe harmonilar or kaygizizlar. I put together 8 comps and for each spent 100s of hrs selecting songs and deciding how to present them in the best order. GA just seems to pick songs and throw them on a comp haphazardly; in listening to his HN2 comp this time I found this to be true again.I thought HN made a strong statement and that #2 was weaker all around; I only would've used about 4 of the songs (I've long since lost what I was planning for vol2). I would've used: LSD, Baris Manco, bunalim; maybe: mechul, erkut, mavi I. the songs he picked were good; I was looking for excellent...
I spoke to Jonathan Richman the other nite and we talked music for 45 minutes. I got him so psyched that he was gonna run out the next day and buy the dbl Omar Khorshid album on sublime f.

  84. Thanks for the list xanthor,i've put together a comp as well on cassette but not sure if you would dig the songs on it.I'm not only into the garage psych stuff from there I also like the jazz, funk, moog pop stuff from the 70s as well.I was going to make a cassette comp of the early beat/garage stuff and call it something along the lines of "Ferry Across the Golden Horn:This Sound is Where It's At".HAHAHA.Obviously a pun on the gerry & pacemakers song, a bit corny don't you think ?

    ReplyDelete
  85. 'I've put together a comp as well on cassette but I'm not only into the garage psych stuff from there I also like the jazz, funk, moog pop.'

I'd be interested: I've got a couple caz singles and a whole CDr of turk moog '70s pop, plus some singles.

  87. 'technicolour tulips :the golden age of anadolu pop.'
nice title, nice comp. I know all but one song: esin afsar.
If I had done HN2, I was going to use fikret hakan's version of 'Cokertme'
    rather than Kardaslar's...
tomorrow's the day that new turk comp is released and we find out what's on it. I googled the record label and found no info about the label.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Xanthor, the esin afsar song, sandigimi acamadim is produced and composed by baris manco with musical backing by kurtulan ekspres. This same haunting song was also recorded by another female singer called cigdem and again it was poduced by manco. The backing track for the esin afsar version can be found on the disco manco cassette album and cd.

  90. Xanthor, which title did you come up with for marthy ? TD :26 ultra rarities from beyond the sea of marmara or TD2:the swinging side of the bosphorus ?

    ReplyDelete
  91. 12(?)yrs ago,I was in touch with Dave Bass in pennsylvania (distortion records?)who asked me to do a turk comp. I said yes and came up with title TURKISH DELIGHTS (I know, not very original- I've had a dozen albums with that title). don't remember what happened, I don't thonk dave was all that interested and Marthy decided to take it back and do it himself. 'ultrararities, etc' sounds nice as a title but is pretty meaningless.

esin afsar sounds interesting- I'll try to check it out.

T.Freakout doesn't really look like much of a freakout but it could be worse.

  92. xanthor fek,
A couple of days ago I received KIZILMASKE from Ciko and just like the other fillms of theirs this one has atrociously bad subtitles!!!

What'S the deal?? I hear from Jared (of Worldweird blog) that you offered them to help out with the English subs, and I know that my friends in the US Ian Friedman and Jared also offered to help (for free). And in reviews and forum posts I have certainly made them aware of the need to proper subs and yet they STILL keep doing the "so bad I wish they were at least as good as wonky HK subs". O_O

People (with low attention span) who would watch one of these dvds for the first time are probably gonna dismiss them on the grounds of their being crap films (when in fact it's just the subs). Such a pity. :-/

  93. I'm still going to get T.Freakout though.I know there's some songs that have been issued several times like gilgamis and also don't know about the ajda pekkan tunes.Ultra rarities beyond... doesn't mean shit like you said he even mispelled "Ultra rarities" as ultrarities.

a friend worked in the studio where she recorded an album about 3 yrs ago. he doesn't like her music and expected her to be a diva; however, he said she turned out to be a very nice person and great to work with.

"Ultra rarities beyond... doesn't mean shit like you said he even mispelled "Ultra rarities" as ultrarities."

which KIZILMASK (I have 2 differnet films of that title on VCD)?
I have 2 of their films but only watched The Hungry Wolves, which had reasonably decent subs but could have been better.

'What'S the deal?? I hear from Jared (of Worldweird blog) that you offered them to help out with the English subs.'

I wish I knew. I met with Gokay last year and made this offer and he seemed interested. I've also been doing editing for 20+ years and cowrote a couple of filmscripts.
But when I've tried to meet up with Gokay to talk about doing subs he's always been too busy. It's too bad-- I'd love to do this...

  96. Anonymous, I forgot to mention: last week I went to see Goksel's CD release show (a friend produced her latest 2 albums, which were all cover songs). 103. You're welcome!
as far as I know he doesn't act in film or on tv anymore. the last that I know of was his appearance in the horrible sequel to DUNYA'YA KURTARAN ADAM.
When I was working on a film project 6 yrs ago (mainly scriptwriting), I wrote a very nice juicy part for him. Aytekkin Akkaya was also gonna have a role (for what was to be a spanish-turkish coproduction). This film would've been real interesting and with a number of cult actors from around the world.

BTW: It now looks like I will be working on improving those subtitles.

    ReplyDelete
  104. That sounds very good! Does that mean only the new subs or will you also be re-working the old ones?

So did that Spanish-Turkish film never get made?

    ReplyDelete
  105. 'Does that mean only the new subs or will you also be re-working the old ones?'
probably new subs; I'll have to ask if they're interested in redoing the old ones.

'So did that Spanish-Turkish film ever get made?'
unfortunately no. the spanish guy behind the film who I had considered a friend (I'd met him thru Metin D.) started sending me insane emails accusing me of doing absolutely ridiculous things-- all fantasies in his head. things that I'd ignored along the way (because he was a friend and because I was really psyched to be involved in this project) suddenly came into focus. when I described how this guy had been acting to a friend in the medical field, he said although he couldn't make a diagnosis, it sounded like he was paranoid delusional. after numerous threats, I jumped ship. it's a shame: we had $1.5 million (needed $750,000 more), (possibly) an exciting international cast, and a very good & strange script with hints of the supernatural; and it was to be shot in Istanbul and eastern turkey. it would've looked great, would've had some cool humor, and I would've made my silver screen debut. he really screwed up a great opportunity.

  107. 'Jesus! How totally and utterly weird!! @_@'
definitely; I was suppose to be cowriting with him, but for 3 years I did all the writing. then suddenly he throws out the best 50 pages of the script and turns it into a pro-environmental diatribe in which my character was changed into someone with a machete who offs despoilers of the environment. all the wit and entertainment gone.
    'oh the horror... the horror...'
I've got to stop now, there are just too many completely stupid and misguided things he did...

'A damn shame it never got made.'
Yes; and if you knew the incredible cast we could have had, and one of the best cinematographers in the world wanted to do it. Almost a total waste, except I found out that I could write a very good script.

  108. XANTHOR,shame about that film you wrote the script for, that never got made.It might've put turkish cult flicks on the map instead of those arty films that win awards. What was the basic storyline without giving too much away ?
Like I said before, I'm buying anything that's claimed to be turkish psych good or bad .THe vinyl release of TUr.frkout will have an exact repro of an okay temiz 45 as a bonus.Okay"s stuff is mostly hit and miss but he has some good grooves that deserve to be reissued, like for example the Zikir album.
Xanthor, haven't seen that flick you mentioned dev adam aka superman in istanbul.I think there's a trailer for it on one of those early Onar dvd releases !!
How about switching to the deathless devil thread ? This one is getting to be too long!!
