TURKISH STRAW DOGS (Kartal Yuvasi) - trailer

KARTAL YUVASI ( TURKISH STRAW DOGS ) Trailer

CIKO MySpace Video

This brutal film looks bloody awesome! (unless you don't like brutal films, obviously). And it's out on DVD-R (legit? Semi-legit? Boot?) from Ciko in Turkey. It's subtitled in English and when you order it you get both the original unsubbed Turkish VCD, a subbed DVD-R, and lobbycards. For the film on their eBay store go Go here. Edit: With most of the DVD-R's from Ciko you get a VCD along with the DVD-R but I've just been informed this isn't the case with this film. No VCD, only a subtitled DVD-R.

  1. What a deal!

I just bought it. It looks terrific. A great pic for the whole family.

I've not heard of it before.

Thanks, Jack, for the info and links.

  2. My pleasure. And I'm certainly looking forward to this too!

Ciko is a cool li'l label as they put out subtitled versions of Turkish films that really ought to be released properly. The (slight) low-point is their English subs. Well, like me you're an old HK film guy so I don't need to explain what wonky subs are, LOL. Well, their subs are wonky to say the least! (at least the ones I've seen so far). But at least it's better than NO subs at all. And this film DOES look terrific.

  3. hi Jack,

    thanks for your nice post about our works, I would like to say that there is a misunderstanding about that movie's description;

Turkish Straw Dogs and COL (Turkish Jaws Action) hasnt been released on official vcd or dvd so its sets are including lobbies and english sub dvdr in case.

Our other works are including orginal dvd or vcd release in Turkish, lobbies (if its available) and enlish sub dvdr.

    greetings

  4. Hey,
Alright, I'll correct that then. Thanks. Where did you get the prints then? Is that from VHS, TV prints or off film print, 35mm/16mm?

    ReplyDelete
  5. its from vhs record (I guess a German release in 80's)Jack, also there were small spaces both sides (up and down) records.

35 or 16 mm prints ? Hehehehe what a nice utopia :)) I wish to had that kind of treasures in 16mm copies but its almost impossible cause lots of them were sold to tv companies in early 90's or lost.

  8. jack,Are the lobby cards originals or are they reprinted ?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I've bought from Ciko once before and the lobbycard I got then was an original. Unfortunately, it was bent in the middle to fit into a smaller envelope! However, this was at the beginning of Ciko's selling films so I hope they've learnt their lesson.

  10. Jack,Is there any chance of Ciko releasing Mavi Boncuk Lassi(turkish lassie) or Turkish Snow White (Pamuk Prenses Ve 7 Cuceler) and the Seven Dwarves ??
I think the only PG family turkish flick he's got is Turkish Laurel & Hardy (tosun ve yosun)??? check below for turkish snow white review;-

  14. thanks Turkish cult,I will buy some stuff off you later, right now I can't afford to buy anything because I racked up a hefty debt on the old credit card.Maybe sometime early next year.Do you plan to release any family films such as the turkish versions of snow white and lassie ?? I've already got some of the films you are selling on vcd Tosun ile yosun, sevmek zamani, hamal, hakanlar carpisiyor, battal gazi etc but i don't have any of those cetin inanc films or the erotic ones.thanks.

  15. Cool with those TURKISH SNOW WHITE AND THE DWARVES + LASSIE! I knew about TURKISH SNOW WHITE (although I haven't seen it). Did you notice it says there's actually a Spanish DVD out? Just, it's dubbed in Spanish.

About Ciko releasing more family friendly films; Needless to say I can't tell you what they're gonna do in the future since I'm not a part of Ciko (or even in contact with them apart from random forum posts on Cinehound) but I wouldn't advise you to hold your breath while waiting.

Ciko are interested in wild and violent action movies. They're horror and action fans and that's what they release. But, hey, that's just my two cents. :D

  16. Jack, There's also two versions of turkish Bewitched,I think one of them is erotic and the other is a regular version starring Filiz Akin as Samantha. There's another film called the pink panther(pembe panter) with an actor dressed in a pink panther suit,I haven't seen this yet but it might be a comedy with mild erotica. You've probably seen these mentioned in that metin/giovanni fantastik turk sinemasi book.

  17. JACK,about snow white apart from the turkish version, there are two different spanish dubs,an italian dub and an albanian subbed version, this info is off you-tube so it might not be totally factual.haha.link below :-

  20. Hi friends,

Yes, I had Snow White's this spanish dub version too. Honestly, that movies belongs to Erler Film and as soon as I known they would release officially that movies.

For family movies you are right but our style is generally violent, erotic and savage such as an usual B type movie like Jack's said.

Yes, the movie that you sent the link is a half erotic version but there is another Turkish Pink Panther movie and Pink is friend with Popeye there :)

Its a really absurd mov. !!! I didnt watch it completely so I dont know the story maybe Pink and Popeye are lead or only guest characters there.

  21. thanks for the info Turkish CULT,
the pink panther(pembe panter) movie has a sequel with turkish popeye in it,that's hilarious.Hopefully they'll reissue that snow white movie on dvd,it's only available on dvd with a spanish dub. I watched snow white on you tube and it's so much better than turkish wizard of oz.Thanks for the link i"ll watch it later when my internet has fast downloads again.

  22. Turkish cult, I just finished viewing thaT pink panther/popeye clip after waiting 40 minutes to download it.thanks, didn't know this film existed. Also the psychedelic instrumental rocks.I think this was the band Xanthor was talking about before.

  23. JACK OR TURKISH CULT,There's also a Chinese Popeye who battles Egyptian mummies with a Bruce Lee clone as his sidekick. The Turkish Popeye and his sidekick the Pink Panther eat cheese and olives whilst the Chinese Popeye eats spinach like in the original.Check the video below :-

  24. Well, you can pat yourself on the shoulder again, Jack. I also just placed an order for it. Thanks for posting that trailer over at AVManiacs. :-)

  25. The music that plays on backgroun on my pink panther & popeye link belongs to ZEN, its first times of Turkish famous band BABA ZULA and the track's name is Ariza Oyun Havasi.

Hehehehe Chinese popeye is so funny, the mummies also reminds me Turkish Star Wars :)

I also thank you too Jens.

  26. Turkish Tombei and Turkish Cult: Thanks for the links and info. I gotta admit I'm not really into Turkish family movies nor comedies. B-films is what I fester on. xD.

Jens; Thanks, you're welcome. And it pleases me to no end that so many people are getting into this movie. I heard from Mads Jensen today who not only received the film but also watched it immediately and text'ed me that it's an awesome movie. I can't wait to watch it! Now, if just I could get people to buy more Onar DVDs as well!

  27. no worries jack,I see you got your cuneyt package.Going by the scans, the vcds look like they arrived in good nick. You got them pretty quick !!It takes me up to 3 weeks to get stuff from istanbul or anywhere else in europe.I've got all of those vcds you put up but have only watched 4 of them.In my opinion out of the 4 that i've seen, two of them are well made, col kartal and ala geyik.the most cartoony one is korkusuz cengaver which is sort of like lion man without the lions and iron claws.Hakanlar carpisiyor is semi-comicbook-like.The first is a movie about the crusades and arkin plays saladin, have to watch that one when I get some spare time.Enjoy the vcds.

  28. Thanks TURKISH CULT,I enjoyed that instrumental by Zen.I also like turkish psych, pop and rock.My favourites are Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Mavi Isiklar,Ersen,3 Hurel,Mogollar and so on.There's also mummy in the movie maskeli seytan(the masked devil which i have on vcd.

  29. Thanks. And yes they got here really quickly. And also thanks for suggesting to me that I ask him for more padding. I did and he used two padded envelopes instead of one.

PS: Oh, and the scans are actually from eBay. LOL.

  30. Note,If by any chance you're gonna buy dvds off him anytime in the future, tell him to take out the disk and send it with a cd envelope along with the cover.I've had a lot of dvds pop out of there holders and get scratched. For some reason the turkish dvd covers seem to be more springy or flexible and the disks tend to move around a lot in their cases.

  31. Just wondering, the music that starts about 1:00 into the trailer with the drums - is that original music written for this film or was it taken from some other film? I really like it :-)

  32. Hi Jens,

    The track that you are asking for from to british funkie band Mandingo's Sacrifice album;

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mandingo-Sacrifice/dp/B00002ZZFQ

It was also used in lots of old Turkish action movies too.
